Supporting Our Community

Jake, Katie, and members of Girl Scout Troop 90748 during the troop’s visit to our greenhouses.

On March 6, we were excited to host members of St. Francis Xavier’s Girl Scout Troop 90748 who reached out to us for a legacy project they were working on in honor of their classmate who passed away from cancer earlier in the school year.

The girls planned a presentation and skit to discuss how they were on a mission to honor and remember their classmate by connecting local farmers with the Ronald McDonald House in Akron, Ohio. The Ronald McDonald House, which has locations around the country, helps provide housing and support to children and their families while a child is receiving medical treatment for an illness or injury.

We were blown away by the girl’s thoughtful presentation and accepted the opportunity to connect with the Akron chapter of the Ronald McDonald House. Before we closed the greenhouses down for our move, we were thrilled to be able to make multiple donations of our fresh leafy greens used to prepare meals for families in residence. We look forward to reconnecting with them once our operations are back up and running at our new home!
